How to use Encrypted backup recovery

  1. Choose an encrypted .keybox backup exported from Keybox.
  2. Personal exports use the space password from export time; shared downloads use the share password. If you chose a different export password, enter that instead.
  3. Wait for local decryption, then follow your browser's prompts to save the original file.

Previewing does not modify your files. Choose local files again after closing the page.

Frequently asked questions

Is the backup password the same as my sign-in password?

By default, it is the space password at export time, or the share password for shared downloads. A new password applies only if you changed it for that export. It is separate from your sign-in password.

Can I recover a backup if I forgot its password?

The correct backup password is required. Keybox does not store it and cannot recover it. Keep the backup and check the password you saved when exporting.
